Ok guys, l agree with ya all that this is not a tropical sunrise but l tell yo that it was my first time to see the sun rising here in Japan ... EH? all these yrs not even once?! what a shame and lazy and we are in the Sun Rising Land!!! ironic uh.
But do u know a beautiful thing ... when l passed my first new year here 2000/2001, do u think that at midnight the japanese people will start with small bombs, bim bum bam and all kind of BOM BOOOM? noooo absolutely ... not like in italy, so noisy! not like in india when there is diwali, even more worse thats looks like to be in the middle of a stupid american war ...
and here how they do it?
with much of my surprise, when midnight clocked, to my ears there was silence ... may be the clock was wrong? ... but no, N my girl-"sister"-friend, said "ssssshh listen closely ..."
ddoooooonnnnnn ...... ddoooooooooooonnnnnnnnn ..... ddooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnn
at continuum ... it was the big bell that was playing in every shrine and temple around in the town .... sssoooooooo nice. l could not believe how intelligent and aesthetic were these japanese people!!!
So on the midnight of the new year they do this and also there is another beautiful option to celebrate the new year and thats is even more beautiful ... in the night go to the mountain, usually on mount fuji, the very symbol of japan, on the top of it and look silently the sunrising.
This is, in my feeling, a very very beautiful way to welcome the new year ... and no l didn't get a chance to go to mount fuji yet ... l will some day, each thing at its own time.
So lets say that, although l wasn't on the mountain and it wasn't a new year time, after traveling all night leaving from sannomiya on July 23 at 22:29 arriving in kokura at 6:08 fresh morning time ... here is another symbolic way, that l'm became aware right now, of a new beginning, a new welcoming ... in fact kokura is the first station of kyushu, a different island.
so the story is like this:
traveling at the night
leaving honshu, the main japan island ...
arriving in kyushu just when the sun rise
a new island
a warm welcoming
and a new beginning too!
